Chanelle Molina notched 28 kills and 20 digs Friday night
to help Konawaena defeat Hawai'i Prep, 25-16, 24-26, 25-18, 25-21, for
its first New City Nissan/Hawai'i High School Athletic Association Girls
Volleyball Division II State Championship.
The Wildcats finished
the regular and postseason at 18-3; Ka Makani, which had won the Big
Island Interscholastic Federation title, ended up 15-4.
McKenna
Ventura added eight kills, nine digs, two blocks and two aces, Celina
Molina had seven kills and 29 digs, and Kaela Avanilla contributed seven
kills and 10 digs.
Gabbie Ewing led Hawai'i Prep with 22 kills and 25 digs, and Tiana Reynolds added 12 kills, three aces and 20 digs.
