Hall of Honor nomination deadline is May 4
Nominations are being accepted through May 4 for the Enterprise Rent-A-Car/Honolulu Star-Advertiser Hawai'i High School Hall of Honor, which was established in 1982 to recognize outstanding athletic achievement of high school seniors in Hawai'i.
Twelve student-athletes will be chosen by an independent selection committee and inducted into the Hall of Honor at a June 5 banquet at Dole Cannery’s Pomaika‘i Ballroom.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car will award each inductee a $2,000 college scholarship, which may be used to offset education expenses such as tuition, books, and room and board.
Seniors who have participated in an official Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association state championship sport are eligible for consideration.
Athletic achievement is given primary consideration by the selection committee, which also takes into account a student-athlete’s character and sportsmanship, other extra-curricular activities, academic achievement and community contributions.
Nomination forms and instructions may be downloaded from the HHSAA web site at www.sportshigh.com
An applicant must receive his/her school’s approval before submitting a form, which should be sent to the HHSAA at P.O. Box 62029, Honolulu, HI, 96839, and postmarked by Wednesday, May 4.
Questions regarding the Hall of Honor scholarship program should be directed to the HHSAA office at (808) 800-4092 or info@hhsaa.org
Nissan Motor Corp. in Hawaii, Ltd. established the Hall of Honor before turning the program over to the HHSAA in the fall of 2004.
