Interscholastic League of Honolulu baseball champion Punahou Buffanblu earned the top seed in the Wally Yonamine Foundation/HHSAA Baseball State Championship Tournament, which takes place this week, Wednesday, May 9 through Saturday, May 12 at Les Murakami Stadium in Honolulu.
The Buffanblu (14-1), along with the other top four seeds, receives a first-round bye. Oahu Interscholastic Association champion Pearl City (11-3) receives the second seed, followed by Big Island Interscholastic Federation champion Waiakea (12-1) and Maui Interscholatic League champion St. Anthony (10-3).
The unseeded league champion, Kauai Red Raiders (11-1) of the Kauai Interscholastic Federation, will face off against the OIA fourth place team Kaiser (9-5), Wednesday at 11:30 am.
Other teams taking the field on Wednesday include MIL second place Kamehameha-Maui (10-5) versus OIA fifth place Kalani (10-4) at 9:00 a.m.; OIA second place Kailua (11-2) versus BIIF second place Kamehameha-Hawaii (11-3) at 5:00 p.m.; and OIA thrid place Mililani (10-3) versus BIIF thrid place Hilo (10-3) at 7:30 p.m.
