HONOLULU – The finals for the Spring 2022 HHSAA esports state championships are set in the HHSAA’s biggest season turnout since its esports inception three years ago.
In League of Legends, ‘Iolani Team Black will faceoff against newcomer Mililani MHSeSports1 at 5:00 pm in a best of 3 matches. Rocket League features ‘Iolani Rocket League Team Blue against four-time defending state champion KS-Maui KSM White at 4:00 pm in a best of 7 matches. And in the cult-favorite Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Kapolei KHSmash1 is pitted against Saint Louis SLS_sugar^3 at 4:00 pm in a best of 5 matches.

A total of 33 HHSAA member schools signed up for the Spring 2022 season fielding a total of 89 teams across the three game titles. Final standings can be viewed at

Local boy Tyler Bender to call the action in the LoL finals
Local boy and current Arizona State University student, Tyler Bender, has been tapped to call the play-by-play for the HHSAA League of Legends championship. Bender is a 2019 graduate of Kaiser High School where he lettered in baseball. His color commentator, Jordan Moffat, grew up in the Bay Area but has family ties to Hawaii.
