Aofaga Wily rushed for 190 yards and two touchdowns on 40 carries Friday night to help Kahuku march past Leilehua, 14-7, in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red Conference semifinals.
The Red Raiders improved to 9-0 and will face Mililani (9-1) at 7:30 p.m. Friday for the title at Hawaiian Airlines Field. Both teams have secured berths to the First Hawaiian Bank/Hawai'i High School Athletic Association State Championships. Leilehua fell to 7-3 and will face Farrington (8-2) for third place and the league's final state berth.
Wily broke a 7-7 tie with a 1-yard TD plunge on the first play of the fourth quarter, capping a 10-play, 67-yard drive. The Mules' lost their next possession on downs near midfield and their final series ended on Kawe Johnson's interception with 3:26 remaining. Wily then carried five straight times for 37 yards to help Kahuku run out the clock.
Leilehua had taken a 7-0 lead after the final play of the fourth quarter on Keanu Kahale Ferreira's 1-yard run, but the Red Raiders tied it up on another 1-yard scoring plunge by Wily with 3:01 left in the first half.
The Mules were held to 66 second-half yards and starting quarterback Justin Jenks was knocked out of the game after taking a solid hit early in the fourth quarter.
