Jordyn Keamo had seven kills, one block and one ace and Samantha Fischer added four kills and three blocks Wednesday night to help Mililani defeat Moanalua, 19-25, 25-21, 15-4 in O'ahu Interscholastic Association girls volleyball playoff action at Farrington.
The Trojans improved to 13-1 in league play and earned a Red Conference finals rematch with Kahuku (13-1) at 7 p.m. Thursday at McKinley. Na Menehune fell to 12-4 and will be the OIA's third-place team entering next week's New City Nissan/Hawai'i High School Athletic Association State Championships.
The first set Wednesday was knotted at 15-15 before Moanalua went on a 9-1 run to separate itself. In the second set, Mililani used a 7-3 spurt to go up, 17-12, and held off several Na Menehune charges afterward.
And in the decisive Game 3, Keamo had two kills and Inoa Fields two aces as the Trojans jumped out to a 7-1 lead and won going away.
Fields, Jayierra Kapowai and Casie Gaza each added two kills for Mililani. Johanna Kruize had seven kills and one block and Lia Gaogao added six kills and one ace to lead Moanalua.
Kailua defeats Kaimuki, 25-21, 15-25, 15-8Rae-Lynn Leong had six kills and one ace and Keala Kaio-Perez, Patria Vaimoana and Kapili Albinio each added four kills as the Surfriders earned a rematch against Farrington today at 5 p.m. at McKinley.
Kaimuki jumped out to a 16-8 lead in the first set, before Jaeden Brito's two aces sparked a 12-1 run that made it 20-17, Kailua. Five more Bulldogs errors helped the Surfriders close out the set.
In Game 2, Amako Kinere had two kills and an ace to highlight a 5-1 run that put Kaimuki ahead, 17-11. Kailua could not get closer than five points the rest of the way.
But the Surfriders rebounded by jumping out to a 9-3 lead in the third set at kept the Bulldogs at bay.
Amako Kinere had a match-high 10 kills, Kawena Paez added six kills and Allison Pologa contributed five kills for the Bulldogs.
