The Hawaii High School Athletic Association (HHSAA) and its member leagues agreed to maintain its “suspended” status for all interscholastic practices and competition at least through April 30 – the end of the current statewide stay-at-home order issued by Gov. David Ige. This keeps the hopes alive for as many as 12,500 student-athletes statewide on the possibility of a modified spring season.
The HHSAA executive board met via video conferencing today as part of a series of weekly briefings to continually evaluate the COVID-19 public health threat and the impacts on education-based athletics programs. The executive board will meet again on Monday, April 6 to reevaluate the status.
The HHSAA member leagues include the Big Island Interscholastic Federation (BIIF), Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH), Kauai Interscholastic Federation (KIF), Maui Interscholastic League (MIL), and the Oahu Interscholastic Association (OIA).
