HHSAA BASEBALL: BIIF goes two for two as Hilo defeats Mililani 7-1

Another OIA team fell on Wednesday at the HHSAA state baseball championships at Les Murakami Stadium,when Hilo defeated Mililani 7-1 behind the outstanding pitching of Royce Ebesu.

The gives the Big Island Interscholastic Federation its second victory in the first round. Both wins were over OIA opponents.

Ebesu held the Trojans to three hits and struckout nine batters during the seven innings he pitched.

Hilo (11-3) broke open the game in the fifth inning with six runs highlighted by an array of singles and a triple by Cortney Arruda.

The Vikings will next play top-seeded Punahou in the second round of the tourney at 7:30 pm at Les Murakami Stadium on Thursday.

Mililani (10-4) will continue in the tournament with a consolation game on Friday at 10 am against Kailua at Central Oahu Regional Park.
