Kailua made six free throws in the final minute to defeat M.I.L. champion and third-seeded Seabury Hall, 47-41, in the 5th place game of the Hawaiian Airlines HHSAA Division II Girls Basketball Championship, Friday, at the Stan Sheriff Center.
Seabury Hall’s Chelsea Kikuchi tied the game at 41 with 1:08 remaining but the Surfriders (13-6) converted 6-of-8 free throws in the closing minute. Kailua’s Ashley Jacobs scored a game-high 21 points.
Five players scored five or more points for Seabury Hall (13-2), including Kikuchi’s team-high seven.
