HHSAA Division II FOOTBALL: Lahainaluna blanks Nanakuli, 28-0

Lahainaluna rushed for 164 yards and held Nanakuli to 132 total yards Saturday as the Lunas blanked the Golden Hawks, 28-0, in the First Hawaiian Bank/Hawai'i High School Athletic Association Division II Football State Championship semifinals.
Lahainaluna improved to 9-1 and will face five-time defending champ 'Iolani (8-3) for the title at 4 p.m. Friday at Aloha Stadium's Hawaiian Airlines Field. Nanakuli's Cinderella season ends at 7-5.
The Lunas took a 7-0 lead after Mark Alamon's 1-yard touchdown run and Taylor Kohler-Fonohema's extra point with 3:50 remaining in the first quarter, then went up, 14-0, after a 68-yard pass play from Luk Filikitonga to Scott-Isaac Medeiros-Tangatailoa 51 seconds into the second quarter.
Lahainaluna later took a 21-0 lead after Tytus Lucas' 34-yard interception return for a pick-six with 7:58 left in the third quarter, then went up, 28-0, after Samiuela Filiai recovered a fumble in the end zone with 7:32 remaining in the game.
