HHSAAFarrington jumped out to an early 14-0 lead and the Governors defense shut out Kahuku for more than three quarters Thursday night in a stunning 21-7 upset victory at Aloha Stadium's Hawaiian Airlines Field.
Farrington improved to 6-2 overall and finished 6-0 in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association's Red Conference Eastern Division. Kahuku, the two-time defending state champion, fell to 5-3, 5-1. The teams will be the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds, respectively, and will thus receive first-round byes in the upcoming league playoffs.
In the first game of the doubleheader, Mathias Tuitele-Iafeta rushed for 138 yards and one touchdown on 11 carries to help McKinley defeat Kailua, 35-14.
