By Edward Jackson Roosevelt won in straight sets this Friday, October 29th to advance into Saturday’s 2:30 p.m. match for fifth place of the New City Nissan/HHSAA Division II Girls Volleyball State Championships. The Rough Riders won the first set, 29-27, and the second, 25-18, over Saint Francis in the consolation bracket at Kalani High School in Honolulu.
Roosevelt improved to 14-2 while Saint Francis of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu fell to 11-9. Roosevelt won the Oahu Interscholastic Association White Division title during the regular season.
The Rough Riders will meet Hawaii Prep of the Big Island Interscholastic Federation to determine the fifth place finisher. Hawaii Prep won over Kalaheo on Friday night in a consolation match at McKinley Student Council Gym in Honolulu.
