OIA Red Playoffs GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: Kahuku turns back Mililani in four

Adora Anae notched a match-high 25 kills and three aces and Pati Anae added 10 kills and a match-high seven blocks Tuesday night to help Kahuku defeat Mililani, 25-23, 25-21, 23-25, 25-20 in O'ahu Interscholastic Association girls volleyball playoff action.

The Red Raiders improved to 13-1 in league play and advanced to Thursday's Red Conference final at 7 p.m. at McKinley's Student Council Gym. They will play the winner of Wednesday's 6:30 p.m. elimination match between Mililani (12-1) and Moanalua (12-3) at Farrington.

Kahuku ended the first set with an 8-2 run after trailing 21-17, then scored the final three points of the second set after the Trojans had closed it to 22-21. Jordyn Keamo's kill broke a 23-23 tie in the third set and Kristen Miguel followed with another kill to force a Game 4.

Sweet Vaimoui then had two kills and a block to highlight a 6-1 run that turned a 14-12 Red Raiders deficit into a 20-15 lead in the fourth set, and Kahuku was able to side out the rest of the way for the victory.

Vaimoui finished with seven kills and three blocks, Sina Tonga added seven kills and Penina Snuka contributed three kills, two aces and a block.

Keamo led Mililani with 15 kills to go with one block and one ace, Inoa Fields added nine kills and one ace, and Miguel and Sarah LeGalley each contributed five kills.

Moanalua def. Kalani, 25-22, 25-15

Analise Austin had six kills and two blocks and Anuhea Paiva added six kills and two aces to help Na Menehune sweep the Falcons and stay in the hunt for the championship.

Moanalua trailed 18-14 in the first set before Paiva highlighted an 8-2 run with two kills and an ace to put Na Menehune up 22-20. Kalani (11-5) tied it at 22-22 after a block by Shandlynn Willing and Rika Okino's kill, but three straight Falcon errors allowed Moanalua to take the set.

Na Menehune then jumped out to an 11-3 run in Game 2 to win going away.

Marina Adolpho chipped in with four kills and two aces, Lia Gaogao added four kills and Johanna Kruize contributed three kills for Moanalua.

Kaiana Iaea led Kalani with eight kills to go with one block and Okino added six kills and two aces.
