HHSAA Division I GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: Punahou repeats as state champ

Carly Kan had 17 kills and 12 digs and Taylor Dayton added nine kills and 12 digs Friday night as Punahou defeated Kamehameha, 25-15, 18-25, 25-16, 25-23, to repeat as New City Nissan/Hawai'i High School Athletic Association Girls Volleyball State Champion.
A crowd of 1,942 at Blaisdell Arena watched the Buffanblu finish the regular and postseason at 18-1. The Warriors ended up 16-4.
With the match tied at one set apiece, Kamehameha made four attack errors and one serve error during a 7-2 run by Punahou that stretched a 14-13 Buffanblu lead to 21-15, and three more attack errors ended the set.
The Warriors jumped out to leads of 5-1, 8-2, 13-7 and 19-14 in the fourth set, only to see Punahou claw back and tie it at 22-22 on a tip kill by Claire Feeley in the middle. After the teams traded points, Dayton put the Buffanblu up for good with a kill through the block and a block by Feeley and Dayton ended it.
Pomai Recca had 14 kills and two blocks and Tiyana Hallums added 12 kills and 11 blocks for Kamehameha.
