Waimea defeated Kailua, 27-25, 16-25, 25-19, 25-21 in the first round of the New City Nissan/Hawai'i High School Athletic Association Division II Girls Volleyball State Championships at Kalani Gym.
Mariyah Oliver led the Menehunes (12-0) with a match-high 18 kills and added one ace and teammate Kawena Warren added 13 kills and match-high five blocks, while Paige Ando contributed 9 kills and an ace.
Keala Kaio-Perez led Kailua (9-8) with 14 kills and 2 aces and Rae-Lynn Leong added 12 kills, 1 ace and 1 block.
